Appointments

Patients can refer themselves for treatment and there isn’t a waiting list. It is not necessary to see the doctor first as our physiotherapist is very experienced at diagnosing what the problem is and deciding if physiotherapy treatment is appropriate. If you are using private medical insurance, phone your insurance company first to check that you are covered, if you have an excess to pay and get an authorisation code. Some insurers require a GP letter of referral. All major insurance companies are accepted at Barnt Green Physiotherapy.

Initial consultation and treatment costs £37 and subsequent sessions cost £32. Payments are made on the day by cash or BACS unless authorisation for private medical insurer has been given. Initial appointments are 45 minutes long, subsequent appointments are 30-45 minutes long.

At the first session a thorough history of the condition will be taken, followed by a physical assessment to help diagnose what the problem is. Pain is sometimes referred so the problem may not be coming from the area of pain, there may be more than one problem (especially in the case of an accident) and sometimes underuse at one area will overwork adjacent tissues and cause them to break down and this needs to be recognised or the problem will keep recurring.

Once a diagnosis has been established, the problem can be explained to the patient and treatment discussed and instituted. Wherever possible patients will be encouraged to do a home programme of appropriate exercises to assist the recovery process and keep the number of appointments needed to a minimum.

Domiciliary visits are available but price depends on location.

Ergonomic assessments in the work place are available. Please inquire about availability and cost.
